I'm gonna say I stayed at that EXACT Gold Coast hotel as a kid - even though I wasn't born for another 6 years after that photo was taken. Either that or I stayed in one that looked exactly like it - which is also possible since so many of them had that identical 'look' back in the day. Either way thanks for the flashback.
This is great. If you drive down the coast towards the border, you can see bits of this version of the Gold Coast still intact. While I was researching the book, I really found Twin Towns and the Tweed *felt* more like what I was writing about than The Strip, which is shocking now.
